USA, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) chiede le dimissioni di Cruz e Hawley: “Il Senato dovrebbe chiedere la vostra espulsione”
(AGENPARL) – Roma, 08 gennaio 2021 – La Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) giovedì ha chiesto le dimissioni da entrambi i Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) e Josh Hawley (R-MO), accusandoli di aver svolto un ruolo chiave nell’istigazione ai disordini in Campidoglio per aver espresso l’intenzione di opporsi alle votazioni elettorali negli Stati contesi prima della sessione congiunta del Congresso.
“Sen. Cruz, lei deve assumersi la responsabilità di come le sue azioni vili ed egoiste abbiano contribuito alla morte di quattro persone ieri. E di come lei ha raccolto fondi da questa sommossa. Sia lei che il senatore Hawley dovete dimettervi. Se non lo farete, il Senato dovrebbe chiedere la vostra espulsione”, ha detto in risposta alle dichiarazioni del senatore del Texas sulle rivolte, definendo le proteste in Campidoglio un “spregevole atto di terrorismo e uno scioccante assalto al nostro sistema democratico”:

Cruz ha risposto definendo il legislatore di New York una “bugiarda”.
“Condurre un dibattito in Senato per garantire l’integrità elettorale sta facendo il nostro lavoro, e non è in alcun modo responsabile degli spregevoli terroristi che ieri hanno attaccato il Campidoglio”, ha risposto:

Ocasio-Cortez ha risposto con uno screenshot di un messaggio di raccolta fondi inviato mercoledì dalla sua campagna.
“Il suo completo rifiuto di riconoscere i danni, i torti subiti o anche i giudizi sbagliati di cui sopra; e la sua mancanza di auto-riflessione su come questi atti abbiano contribuito al caos di ieri è allarmante”, ha detto, concludendo che lo rende “inadatto” all’incarico, suscitando una risposta acuta da parte di Cruz:

Allo stesso modo, Ocasio-Cortez ha risposto alla dichiarazione di Hawley sulla rescissione del contratto da parte di Simon & Schuster, accusandolo di aver fatto a pugni con gli insorti mentre attaccava “senza fondamento” le elezioni negli Stati Uniti.
“Le sue azioni hanno alimentato una rivolta e lei ha raccolto fondi nel caos. Cinque persone sono morte. Persino i suoi colleghi del GOP hanno preso le distanze dal suo gesto”, ha continuato, chiedendo infine la sua espulsione:
